Wimbledon Tennis - Federer, Nadal, or Djokovic?
WIMBLEDON --
For the next two weeks, tennis fans around the globe will be glued to their television sets as the most prominent tournament of the year gets underway. The 2008 tennis season hits its pinnacle as players from around the world compete in the 132nd Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
Three men have dominated much of the 2008 tennis season to day. These players, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djookovic are sure-fire favorites to breeze through the early rounds. The potential for another Federer Nadal showdown is a real possibility that could make for one of the best matches of all time.
Roger Federer has been priced 5/4 favorite to win Wimbledon due to his past performances on the lawn. In 2008, Federer has only won two tournaments, but that should not hold him back on his favorite surface.
Many insiders have reported that all eyes will be on clay-court king, Rafael Nadal. He is coming off of a win at the French Open in which he dominated the competition in ways never done before. He has never beaten Federer on grass at Wimbledon. The sportsbooks have Nadal priced at 7/4, just behind Federer in the betting markets.
Novak Djokovic is the unknown element in this world class group of players. The Serbian player has already taken 1 grand slam title in 2008, and will be playing on a surface that suits the strengths of his game. Online casinos have priced Djokovic at 9/2 to take his 2nd title, which looks like a good bet given that Djokovic is currently playing far better than short-priced Federer.
