Online Casinos Are "In the Game!" with SEGA
LONDON, ENGLAND --
SEGA Corporation, the software company well known for its video games, has acquired an online gambling license from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. The award puts the gaming company in position to enter the online casino industry.
SEGA will bring its powerful video game brands to Internet casinos and online poker with the aid of Playtech. Sites for online gambling will carry the SEGA name, such as SEGAcasino.com and SEGApoker.com.
"The Alderney Gambling Control Commission provides the most comprehensive gaming regulations with the strictest requirements and as such is recognizes as the most reputable online gaming jurisdiction," said a statement released by SEGA.
SEGA officials said the company would only operate under total compliance with all regulatory bodies in the applicable jurisdiction. US patrons will certainly be shut out, as Playtech does not license online casinos that accept US customers.
"That SEGA Games chose to base their new venture with us in Alderney is something we are immensely proud about," said Robin Le Prevost, Head of eCommerce Development for Alderney. "In our minds it vindicates the high quality of our regulation, which has seen substantial investment from companies of high standing like SEGA over the last few years."
