More Online Casinos Laying Off Workers

By Lee Rockwell on November 1, 2008  Email it!    Print Version

Play Slots at Rushmore Casino! CYPRUS -- More bad news came for online casino workers Friday night, as many received their pink slips and were asked not to return on Monday.  The world-wide economy, scrambling to get its act togethor, is cleaning house in many industries and leaving employees to find another job.

Its no different in the world of online casinos, as companies are laying off customer service personnel, affiliate managers, and software designers in huge numbers.

"I worked as an affiliate manager since 2001, now I guess I have to go and find a real job", chuckled one former employee of a well-known online casino headquartered in London.

"I really enjoyed my job as an affiliate manager, and I think it will be tough to find anything as interesting, or that pays as well", she remarked.

We do not have the official numbers of how many people really have been laid-off in the online casino gaming industry, but some analysts are predicting cut-backs as high as 40%, in some areas.

Company budgets are being slashed by executives in an effort to remain afloat.   It's expected some of these jobs will return sometime near Q3 09'.  For now, the online casinos will continue operating at half-staff.
