McCain Out of the Republican Party, The Betting Odds

By Lee Rockwell on November 6, 2008  Email it!    Print Version

Play Slots at Rushmore Casino! PHOENIX, AZ -- John McCain, the Republican Presidential nominee who lost decisively to Barack Obama, has made a career of 'crossing the isle' to work with Liberal Congressman, is it time for him to cross-over permanently?  Can Republicans afford to destroy their party with Democrat-lites such as McCain?

It is becoming widely-known that Conservatives are furious with McCain, especially for his obvious pandering to Moderate-Republicans during the presidential-race.  He changed the face of the Republican party, and citizens across the US took notice by voting for Barack Obama.

John McCain spent most of the campaign trying to please people in the middle, instead of focusing on core Republican beliefs and drawing contrasts with Barack Obama.  McCain wasted time bashing George Bush, Wall Street, and other members of his own party.  He also signed-onto the bail-out package, the largest intrusion of free-markets in history by the US Government.

One of the biggest failures in John McCain's career was the Campaign Finance Reform bill he created with Liberal Senator Russ Feinfold.  The idea was to limit the amount of private money donated by businesses and wealthy individuals.  As we see in 2008, the creation of the bill was a total waste of time as Obama raised nearly a billion dollars by accepting small contributions from across the globe.

Another 'bi-partisan' failure McCain helped designed, the Immigration Reform Act of 2007, in which he teamed up with Democrat Ted Kennedy, was to grant 12 million illegal immigrants living in the US an easy path to citizenship.  As you know, Conservatives staunchly opposed this legislation for obvious reasons.  It would have provided amnesty to illegals and rewarded them for disregarding US law.

Most Conservatives now hope McCain will cross the isle - permanently, while they regroup in exile and find new leadership for their everlasting ideology.
