Isle of Man Eases Online Gambling Regulations
LONDON, ENGLAND --
Representatives of the government of the Isle of Man announced at the International Gaming Expo this week that it would be changing its online gambling regulations to attract new gaming companies to base there. The new rules include allowing online casino operators to establish non-gaming activities and operations on the island without acquiring a gaming license.
This would include marketing, customer support, and administration. Gaming licenses would still be needed to handle accepting bets and funding player accounts.
Speaking st the Expo, David Cretney, the Isle's Minister for Trade and Industry, said, "It is also great to be attending the show alongside business partners in the private sector which allows us to demonstrate the high quality e-business cluster the Isle of Man has built up, making us an attractive proposition for those in the industry looking for a one-stop shop.”
“Our new streamlined regulations further demonstrate our commitment to growing the e-Gaming industry on the Isle of Man,” said Garth Kimber, Head of the Isle of Man’s e-Gaming development.
The Isle of Man enjoys whitelisting by the UK, meaning that companies under the island's regulatory umbrella are allowed to advertise on the lucrative British gambling market. Only those companies who choose to get a license on Isle of Man will receive whitelisting benefits.
