French Open Tennis Favorites and Betting Odds
ROLAND GARROS --
Today marks the beginning of the 2008 French Open Tennis Championships at Roland Garros. This is an event the European betting parlors have been waiting for, especially with the women's field so wide-open. The men's side, of course, is a bit more predictable, as favorite Rafael Nadal enters the competition in top form.
First, on the women's side, Serena Williams appears to be the clear-cut favorite, despite many tennis analysts questioning her physical conditioning in preparation for the grueling event at Roland Garros on the slow-paced, red clay surface. Maria Sharapova is the #1 seed, but most agree she doesn't play her best tennis on this surface. If Williams and/or Sharapova falter, the rest of the field is very hard to predict, with Ivanovic and Jankovic the next two in line.
On the men's side, everyone is once again pointing towards Rafael Nadal to win the event. He has already won three clay court events this year, most notably his victory at Monte Carlo over top-seeded Roger Federer. Roger Federer is the #1 seed in this event as well, but, in his career, he has never faired well against Nadal on clay. A long shot in the event is American James Blake, who has been playing excellent tennis in 2008, according to some handicappers.
The 2008 French Open Tennis Championships at Roland Garros should be another exciting event. Online Casino Sphere will be covering the event online throughout the two weeks. For live betting odds and wagering, more information can be found on Bodog.com website.
