Fox News Shepard Smith Gambling on Inflation

By Brian Chan on April 15, 2008  Email it!    Print Version

Play Slots at Rushmore Casino! NEW YORK, NY -- This evening, while millions of Americans were tuning into the Fox Report, hosted by Shepard Smith, viewers were shown a side of Mr. Smith's personality they had never seen before, an apparent addiction to gambling.

During a very serious discussion with a Fox News contributor regarding inflation and the overall effect it could have on the economy, Shep (as his fan's like to call him) made an outlandish comment telling the reporter he would bet his entire summer grocery budget on whethor or not stagflation will terrorize the US economy, like it did back in the 1970's.

As  you may know, stagflation is a term in economics used to describe a period of inflation combined with stagnation, or slow economic growth and rising unemployment, possibly including recession.

Gas prices in the United States recently hit an all-time high at $3.38 per gallon, a figure that is driving up wholesale costs around the country. With rising costs at the distributor-level, consumers down-the-line feel the effect as new shipments arrive at places like Wal-mart and Costco.

Offshore sportsbooks and gambling sites will accept bets on just about anything. From who is going to win the next presidential campaign, to when the next major hurricane will hit the United States, sportsbooks and online casinos are ready to place odds.

We are still waiting to see if any sportsbook will announce the odds of whethor or not the US will see stagflation in 2008.
