Charity Gaming for China Earthquake Survivors
HANWANG, CHINA --
Lost in the glitz and glamour of the worldwide casino gaming industry, is the softer side of the operators and their willingness to give back to the poor and misfortunate. That could not be exemplified any better as BackgammonMasters has decided to give a generous portion of their net income to survivors of the Chinese earthquake.
The earthquake in China has left at least 70,000 people dead, and many millions more homeless and disease-ridden. Everyday more bodies are found as people are starving to death, according to reports.
In a recent conversation, Online Casino Sphere Sr. Editor Lee Rockwell had this to say, "Backgammon Masters is leading the charge to assist Chinese earthquake victims through charity gaming events including online blackjack and poker tournaments."
BackgammonMasters has offered to match $5 for every $1 donated from a months worth of tournaments. Players will participate in backgammon and blackjack tournaments where all of the prize money will go directly to the UNICEF organization whose main focus of attention and assistance is on child victims of the quake.
It is not uncommon for casino gambling operators to help out during times of tragedy and world crisis. Most recently, during Hurricane Katrina, many online casino portals were quick to offer assistance to those devastated by the storm.
