Online Gambling Odds Expected on Biden Gaffes
WASHINGTON, D.C. --
The Joe Biden Era has begun with the arrival of the Obama administration, and online casino sportsbooks, which are known to take action on almost any event conceivable, are expected to offer daily betting on whether the new Vice-President makes it through twenty-four hours without an offending slip.
Biden has already had to apologize to Chief Justice John Roberts for ridiculing Roberts' memory lapse at the swearing in of President Obama. After Roberts mistakenly placed the word "faithfully" at the end of a sentence rather than in its proper place in the middle, Biden made a wisecrack that "my memory is not as good as Chief Justice Roberts'."
Biden's history of misspeaking and making a fool of himself is lengthy and well-documented. During the campaign, Biden compared President Bush's attempts to control the economic crisis with Franklin Roosevelt, saying Roosevelt addressed the nation on television when the Great Depression hit. But Roosevelt as not President at the start of the Depression, nor had television been introduced to the public.
Biden also flubbed his own Presidential bid a few years ago when he was caught plagiarizing John Kennedy in a speech. Apparently, Biden's memory is so poor he cannot remember which words are his and which are Kennedy's.
A leading English sportsbook representative said, "We might start the odds on any given day at about two to one, raising the payout on days Biden is unlikely to appear in public and dropping it when he's on official business or has a streak of consecutive days without a mistake, thereby making him overdue."
