Gorbachev to Endorse Barack Obama at Seminole Casino
HOLLYWOOD, FL --
Tonight, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in sunny South Florida, former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev will speak to a group of people in the casino's convention area. The 77-year old former communist dictator will discuss peace, political reform, and environmentalism in the 21st century.
As you may know, Gorbachev tours the world giving speeches for-hire. He makes up to $100,000 per hour sometimes. At the Seminole Hard Rock, the cheapest seat in the auditorium goes for about $55 each.
The one-hour lecture will be held Wednesday night at Hard Rock Live! at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, beginning at 7:30PM EST.
According to local sources, Gorbachev has also been known to speak at other casino-related venues. He once spoke to a large crowd at the MGM Mirage casino gambling resort in Las Vegas.
In addition to his lecture, he is expected to formally endorse Barack Obama for president of the United States. Both have shared similar types of foreign policy views.
Update 10:08pm EST:
With the speech ending around 8:30pm, Gorbachev had not given his endorsement like previously anticipated.
Paraphrasing an email by Agent Jonathan Braverman of the American Program Bureau, "rumors of the endorsement are completely false. I assure you your sources are incorrect".
