LVS Casino Gaming Plan Rejected in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY --
Casino and Gaming industry lobbyists were disappointed to hear Kansas has decided once again to reject a mega-casino resort proposal offered by Las Vegas Sands Corporation.
Last night, senior officials for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County in Kansas City denied the proposal unanimously by a vote of 9-1.
At stake, was the addition of $800 million casino resort set for the Kansas City Area. Vegas Sands had committed to development and full operations. The casino would
have included Las-Vegas style slots, blackjack, and poker.
The Unified Government has already endorsed 3 other casino proposals, none of which were designed by Vegas Sands.
Despite the rejection in Kansas City, Vegas Sands gets one last chance next month as Edwardsville City Council will debate the issue and considering granting the project
in their locality.
As you know, Vegas Sands Corporation is one of the most reputable companies in the United States casino market. The company owns and operates several resort properties across the
country and employs thousands of workers. With the announcement today by the Unified Government, LVS stock is down almost 3% at $77.80 per share.
