Another Athlete Arrested for Bad Casino Gambling Debt

Play Slots at Rushmore Casino! LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- An ex-NFL player is likely headed for jail in Las Vegas after having failed to pay off markers used for gambling at area casinos. Ross Verba is charged with writing bad chacks to the Palms Casino in the amount of $26,000.

Verba had a lengthy career as an offensive lineman in the NFL, playing for the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, and Cleveland Browns. H e was arrested in Arizona under an existing warrant from Nevada.

Verba is just the latest high-profile athlete or celebrity accused of misusing the casino marker policy. Under Nevada law, markers are treated as chacks; if not paid off, they are prosecuted by the Clark County District Attorney as bad checks.

Charles Barkley made bad markers national news when he failed to settle hundreds of thusands in debt, until notified by law enforcement. Antoine Walker just recently settleed a case, promising to make regular payments to settle the debt he owes three Vegas casinos, totalling almost a million dollars.

Verba had run afouil of bad check enforcement before. Three years ago he was arrested and forced to settle a $50,000 debt with Wynn Las Vegas adfter drawing gambling markers.
