Amid Rumors, MGM Mirage CEO Retires Abrubtly
LAS VEGAS, NV --
Amid wide-spread rumors and speculation, MGM Mirage CEO Terrence Lanni, retires after 13-years as chief executive. Rumors flying around the internet this week said the Human Resources department at MGM recently learned Mr. Lanni had lyed on his resume in an attempt to boost his academic record.
Mr. Lanni shrugged off speculation he lied saying, "I will begin retirement at the end of this month, its time for a new generation to lead MGM Mirage".
Despite walking away from the company at the end of this month, Mr. Lanni will serve on the Board of Directors moving forward. He will have a considerable influence on who takes over his position as CEO.
Mr. Lanni, who is now 65-years old, is not retiring over health-concerns or to accept a position with another company. He will not run for public office after he leaves MGM Mirage, either.
"He feels its the right time to move-on, its as simple as that", says a long-time journalist who covers the casino gaming industry.
Whatever his reasons, there is no question whethor or not Mr. Lanni did a tremendous job as CEO of MGM Mirage for the past 13 years.
