Meadows Racino Exceeds Revenue Expectations
MEADOW LANDS, PENNSYLVANIA --
The Meadows Race Track and Casino in southwestern Pennsylvania is showing all the signs of being a bonanza for both the operators and the state. Although the casino is still located in a temporary building, the location is generating more revenue per slot machine than any other venue in the state.
The racino has had slots operating for one year, and in that time it has paid out over $2 billion.
Just last month alone, the establishment gave away $2.5 million to registered frequent players in promotional moves.
The permanent casino is due in the spring of 2009, and Meadows General Manager Mike Graninger is campaigning for legalized table games. Graninger pointed out the track supports wages and salaries totalling $28 million annually, and table games could add as many as 700 more jobs to the growing racino.
Leaving space for hoped-for blackjack and roulette still has the permanent building doubling the current number of slots to 3900, as well as containing a bowling alley and a movie theatre.
