Ford County Casino Operator Named by Kansas
TOPEKA, KANSAS --
The fourth and final piece in the Kansas casino puzzle has been unveiled. Butler National Service Corporation will be the state's partner in building and running a casino in Ford County.
The Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board awarded the license to Butler after a year-long and tedious process, discarding the bid of Dodge City Gaming and Resort. This would signal the end of the selection stage for Kansas, except Cherokee County choice Penn National Gaming has declined its invitation, citing changed conditions.
During the movement of the debate through the myriad committees and steps in the Kansas deliberation, a tribal casino opened in Oklahoma adjacent to the Cherokee County border, and credit markets grew tighter.
Butler will erect an $88 million casino to be called Boot Hill Casino and Resort. By this time next year, the opening of the first stage of the casino should be near, featuring 10 table games and 575 slots.
A year later, the 124-room hotel will host restaurants, convention space, and 875 slots in the casino with 20 table games.
