Gambling Industry Cheers as Clinton Wins Pennsylvania
PHILADELPIA, PA --
At 8:26 PM eastern, NBC projected Hillary Clinton the winner of the Pennsylvania primary in a must-win situation for her campaign. The contest between Hillary and Barack Obama has been extremely fierce, as both candidates have taken major shots at one another.
The margin of victory is still unclear, but many political insiders are predicting a possible double-digit victory for Mrs. Clinton. Barack Obama had outspent Clinton 2-1 in recent television ads. The victory in Pennsylvania gives hope to those in the casino industry who are supporting her campaign.
If Hillary Clinton gets the nomination for the Democratic party in 2008, she has a very legitimate chance at possibly winning the general election in November. Some believe, if she becomes president of the United States, she could very well fast forward legislation that would allow casino gambling online. Currently, the law only permits wagering on horse racing in the US.
Hillary Clinton has racked up the public endorsement of some of the countries most influential gambling industry executives and advocates. If she becomes president, many are predicting a favorable outcome for the online casino gaming industry.
In the past, Democrat Hillary Clinton supported a study to determine if Internet gambling can be fairly regulated so that individuals can safely play casino games online. Legalizing online casinos would also help the economy as American businesses would compete in the international online casino market.
