Foxwoods Casino Move Appears Imminent Says Governor
PHILADELPHIA, PA --
After 20 months of planning, Foxwoods has decided to move their new casino project elsewhere. They had planned to build a casino along the Delaware riverfront in the crime-ridden area of South Philly, where land is cheap.
They previously resisted opposition to their project by local anti-casino protestors. Now, it appears the anti-casino movement will claim victory in this small battle.
According to a report by local media, Foxwoods Casino investors met with Governor Ed Rendell and Mayor Nutter to disclose the fact they are willing to move the casino project to an alternate location.
Rendell later revealed in a press conference that Foxwoods investors told him 10 days ago that they were examining other locations in the city.
Rendell, Nutter, state Senator Vince Fumo and state Rep. Dwight Evans all warned that relocation is still a long way from a done deal, however.
"The only thing certain in this casino project is we have uncertainty" Rendell said. "There is nothing definitive, however, Foxwoods will most likely be moving to an alternate location."
According to some industry analysts, the new casino in South Philly would have been "the nail in the coffen" for Atlantic City, which has been slumping since the fall of their casino monopoly in the northeast.

Casinos in residential neighborhoods? That's a bad plan. Good for those residents, the Mayor, and the Governor to fight it.
(By the way, you should get a better fact-checker. South Philly is not a crime-ridden area, not for Philadelphia, and not in that neighborhood either.) |

| The South Philly area may not be crime-ridden at the moment, but place a casino there and we will have problems. |
