San Diego Woman Hits Jackpot in Under 30 Seconds
SAN DIEGO --
When you enter your local casino, the idea of walking away with the winning jackpot is usually not very realistic. Most of us have come and gone enough times to realize our chances are very slim, even to simply break-even. We go to the casino to hang-out, burn some time, have a few drinks, and maybe reacquaint with old friends. Most of us have never won more than a thousand dollars playing slots.
When Joanne Smith entered the Viejas Casino in San Diego this past weekend, she did something extremely rare. After entering only a few bucks in the slot machine, she quickly won the $108,000 Wheel of Fortune jackpot on a .25 cent slot machine.
Smith, an aging baby-boomer of 62 years, was at the casino with her husband. They live in the San Diego area and visit the casino routinely. Little did she know that 5 spins after she walked in the door, she would multiply her investment by a factor of 28,589.
"I honestly couldn't believe that I had won all that money." said Smith. "Thank God for his generosity and making my life so wonderful."
Mrs. Smith, who is retired, says she loves to play Wheel of Fortune .25 cent slot machines. Interestingly enough, Wheel of Fortune is her favorite television show as well.
When asked how she would spend the money, Mrs. Smith replied, "I am going to spend the money on my children and donate the rest to my church."
