Florida Casinos Unaffected by Tropical Storm Fay
TAMPA, FL --
Despite the hype and promotion of Tropical Storm Fay by the Weather Channel, area businesses and casinos were largely unaffected by the storm. As you know, the top casinos in Florida are operated by the Seminole Indian Tribe. They own and operate the Hard Rock Cafe branded-casinos in Hollywood and Tampa, Florida.
Each of the tribes casinos in Florida went uninterrupted during last night's weak Tropical Storm. The Weather Channel had been promoting the storm vigorously as the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Wilma. The storm never became a hurricane, as gamblers took shelter in the 100,000 sq. foot gaming facilities.
"We boarded up the house, like the Weather Channel told us to do. Instead of going to the shelters, we headed over to the Seminole Casino and waited out the storm with slots and blackjack", said one area woman.
Tropical Storm Fay is moving northeast over Florida dropping moderate rainfall with winds gusting up to 30MPH. Tropical Storm Fay was a rather weak storm that never fully-developed, according to people who experienced the conditions first-hand.
