Christmas Comes Early to Atlantic City Casinos
ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY --
Atlantic City casinos are pulling out every trick they can imagine to lure gamblers back to their loving arms. With the Christmas season looming, casinos are afraid consumers might be forced by economic circumstances to spend their gambling budget on gifts. So, gambling industry marketers are creating all kinds of promotions to mitigate the effects of a prospectively tough month.
The Tropicana Casino, having more to overcome than just tight budgets, is causing the most stir with its holiday features. December 13th, the casino will host the Running of the Santas, in which contestants put on Santa Claus suits and beards and chase Hooters girls around a course. No word has been given on what happens when a Santa catches one, but the Tropicana has great room rates!
Tropicana's shopping and restaurant mall will have a light show set to music and featuring over 100,000 lights. Snow machines will blanket the area with fake snow.
Trump Marina Casino is holding feeder blackjack tournaments for a January 3rd tournament worth $1,000,000. The Borgata Casino is having both a free Christmas party and another on New Year's Eve.
Area casinos have reported double-digit drops in revenue for most months of this year, and prospects are not improving. A discerning gambler could strike nice deals on rooms and find many attractions available this winter, as competition for business gets cutthroat among casinos. Maybe even a Hooters girl will find her way into the room.
