Casino Betting Odds: Rod Blagojevich Does Jail-Time?
CHICAGO, IL --
As the Rod Blagojevich scandal heats-up, online casinos are accepting bets on whether or not he will eventually do jail-time. As you know, the Illinois Governor was caught on-tape last month discussing the sale of Barack Obama's Senate seat, a position Blagojevich called "lucrative" and something "he is not giving up easily".
Federal prosecutors raided his home and took the Governor to jail, where he was formally charged and released on bond for trying to sell Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder. Republicans claim this is just typical liberal Chicago politics, nothing to be surpised of - a city where race-baiters, union thugs, and organized crime controls the municipality.
Despite even overwhelming pressure from his Democrat colleagues to resign, Blagojevich, is fighting back against the charges. His lawyers believe they have a strong-case against Federal prosecutors.
Today, he continued on as Governor and announced the appointment of the vacant Senate seat to Roland Burris, a former Illinois Attorney General.
Even though Blago is getting a black-eye from the media, legal analysts say the case against him is not a 100% conviction.
"One thing is for sure, it will be almost impossible to find an unbiased jury - this could lead to mistrial, or even the possibility the case gets thrown out of court", says Steven Horowitz, an attorney from Los Angeles who has represented political figures in the past.
When the bettings odds are finally released, gamblers will surely have their work cut-out for themselves.
