Las Vegas Casino Sues NBA and Alonzo Mourning

By Lance Burkhart on June 28, 2008  Email it!    Print Version

Play Slots at Rushmore Casino! LAS VEGAS -- According to reports from our Las Vegas bureau, a prominent Las Vegas casino has filed a civil lawsuit against the NBA and Alonzo Mourning over $50,000 in missing payments.  The casino, Wynn Resorts, claims the NBA and Alonzo Mourning owe the casino $50,000 from a convention during 2007 All-Star game week.

Many in the media have speculated this lawsuit as a promotional tactic for Wynn Resorts to receive free PR and media attention. As you know, last month Wynn was featured in hundreds of media stories when they went after Charles Barkley for $400,000.

According to unconfirmed sources, the money could be linked with gambling and alcohol related charges at the casino.

Repeated attempts to contact the NBA and Alonzo Mourning to receive official statements went unanswered.

Representatives for Wynn Las Vegas declined to comment on the litigation.

Alonzo Mourning missed the entire 2008 season with the Miami Heat due to an early season injury that sidelined him for the entire year.  According to NBA insiders, Mourning is interested in coming back and playing for the Heat in 2009.
