Kentucky Online Gambling Hearing Delayed
FRANKFORT, KENTUCKY --
Thursday's scheduled hearing before a Kentucky judge regarding forfeiture of the domain names of online gaming sites has been delayed until Friday at 3:30 p.m.
The Governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshear, has pressed to have the domain names of 141 websites seized by his state, for operating illegally within Kentucky borders.
Although Beshear ran as a pro-gambling governor, he now argues that he only meant those gambling venues which pay directly into state tax coffers, and that Internet casinos drain money from legitimate Kentucky gaming, such as horse racing.
Unfortunately, this appears as a direct confirmation of the Remote Gaming Association charge that the U.S. laws are protectionist and in violation of free trade, by favoring horse racing and lotteries online while disallowing international Internet gaming.
Members of the online gambling community are scrambling to send legal representatives to the Kentucky hearing. IMega has promised to send the best team of lawyers in the country to prevent this Internet censorship and government intrusion.
