IGREA Bill Lands 46th Co-Sponsor

Play Slots at Rushmore Casino! WASHINGTON D.C. -- Barney Frank's newly created Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act (IGREA 2007) received another supporter today in the United States House of Representatives. Congressman George Miller of California has agreed to sign-on and co-sponsor Bill HR 2046, a proposal to legalize internet gambling and encourage government regulation of a broken and lawless industry. Miller is now the 46th co-sponsor of the Bill which was originally designed by Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts.

The last Congressman to endorse the bill was also from California.  Representative Ellen O. Taucher co-sponsored the bill just before Christmas time. She was the 45th person to to do so at the time.  Now with 46 co-sponsors, the bill already has plenty of supporters in the House of Representatives to have a chance at getting to the Senate. The difficult part is getting the bill down to the floor for a vote.

Rep. George Miller is currently serving his 17th term in Congress. Presently, he serves as the Chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, and is a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, as well as Chairman of the House Democratic Policy Committee.

Congressman Miller has been serving in the House of Representatives since 1974, earning a reputation for extremely liberal positions on social and economic issues. His view on policy creates tax increases and increased government control.

Some industry analysts have asked why it took him so long to co-sponsor this bill. The bill was originally announced back in the middle of 2007, approximately 9 months ago.  Why did he wait almost 9 months later, a time when the bill had lost substantial momentum. Up until today, the bill appeared to be dead-in-the-water. Some have speculated this endorsement by Congressman Miller could start a trend with other politicians. Barney Frank has yet to comment on the  much-appreciated endorsement.
