Donald Trump Casino Gambling Lawsuit in Florida
FT. LAUDERDALE --
The Donald Trump legal machine is back in South Florida trying to sue his former business associates over an apparent shady deal involving the Seminole Hard Rock casino developers.
Trump's lawyers accuse his former business associate, Richard Fields, of stealing the lucrative deal with the Seminole Indian tribe behind Trump's back. In the late 90's, the two had been trying to cut a deal with the Seminoles to open gambling casinos in Florida.
Richard Fields is a New York-born businessman and philanthropist. He is the Chairman of Coastal Development, LLC, a financing and development company that specializes in resort destinations, entertainment projects and casino gaming facilities.
The Cordish Company, through its affiliate Power Plant Entertainment, LLC, finally landed the deal with Coastal Development to build 2 Hard Rock-themed hotels and casinos in Florida, the 1st Hard Rock hotels and casinos in the United States outside of Las Vegas. The projects rank among the top performing casino hotels in the world. Donald Trump was left out of the arrangement.
The developers argue that Trump has waited too long and his claims are outside the statute of limitations in Florida. They also said Trump was only interested if the Seminoles could secure Vegas-style games such as blackjack and roulette, approval they did not get until this year by Governor Charlie Christ.
Anyone following the news knows Donald sues more people than anyone else in the world. He is currently suing the taxpayers of New York over a real estate project. Legal analysts doubt Mr. Trump's chances in this case due to lack of hard evidence.
