Will Casinos Finally Arrive in Atlanta, Georgia?
ATLANTA, GA --
With a slumping economy and a looming state-wide budget crisis, lawmakers in the Peach State are once again asking, "is now the right-time to bring casino gambling to Atlanta, Georgia?".
According to the Atlanta Constitution Journal, City Leaders in Atlanta have once again asked state-lawmakers to considers bringing casinos to the Fulton-County area.
Supporters argue the casinos would bring millions of dollars to the economy and help fund public education.
Opponents say the casinos will harm other area businesses(restaurants, bars/clubs, hotels) and produce a society prone to bancrupties, drug-addiction, prostitution, alcoholism, and lower property values.
Most of the empowered leaders in the hospitality industry of Georgia believe casinos would help boost the state's lagging tourism figures. The plan is to create a destination in which people travel to the casinos, spend money, leave, tell their friends about it, then come back again.
If casinos were to be approved in certain areas of Atlanta, it would surely spark a bidding-war among the top casino companies worldwide. Top choices now are MGM Mirage, Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts, Boyd Gaming, and Penn National.

I have visited Casinos from LasVegas to Florida and I don't see any signs of the casinos drawing crime. Atlanta is already full of crime and letting Casinos into the state is not going to make it any worse. I hear it mentioned that Casinos feed addiction,Alcoholism, etc. if a person drinks, gambles, looks for prostitution, he doesn't need a Casino, The Atlanta streets are full of it all. By keping Casinos out of Georgia you are sending all that revenue to other states...... |
